McDonnell F-4 C/D Phantom II Empty
PostSubject: McDonnell F-4 C/D Phantom II   McDonnell F-4 C/D Phantom II EmptyMon Jun 03 2013, 07:49

This 32 scale F-4c/d from Tamiya is the second kit production of the Phantom Family of aircraft and has been around for a number of years now and this OOB build was given to me by Glen, to put in the 2012 Model Comp club display as is, the subject is of the USAF operational Phanton's flown during the Vietnam War, the aircraft is in the SEA Scheme of Olive Green / Forest Green and Tan over Light Grey, the model measures 55.5cm long when completed. Tamiya produced 5 of the F-4 Phantom II series of aircraft, firstly was the F-4j in the U.S. Navy Light Grey over White livery of VF 141, which was followed by the F-4j in U.S. Marines livery of VMFA 333 also the same Light Grey over White scheme, which was followed by the F-4e of the U.S.A.F. in the same SEA Livery, {this is the aircraft type flown by the RAAF prior to the delivery of the F-111}, the last of the Tamiya Phanton II aircraft in this large was the F-4ej in the J.S.D.F. livery of Light Grey over White.

If anyone is interested in large scale jets that Tamiya also manufacture, a list is shown below:

F-14a Tomcat
F-15c Eagle
F-15e Strike Eagle
F-15j J.S.D.F.
F-16c Thunderbirds
F-16cj Viper

In Propeller Aircraft:

A6M2b Zeke {Type 21}
A6M5 Zeke {Type 52}
Mk IXc Spitfire
Mk XVI Spitfire
Mk VIII Spitfire
P-51 Mustang

NOTE:- Tamiya are in the production stage of the 32 scale F4U-1/2 Bird Cage Corsair.

I have in my un built kit collection the Tamiya P-51d {which I may build as a CAC 18 or 22}.
A Mk VIII Spitfire, which has a 3 option build of either, RAF European, USAAC North Africa and RAAF Pacific,
of which the RAAF subject has inaccurate decals for that aircraft option.

More on these two kits later.
