Tamiya's 32 scale Spitfire Mk VIII kit #60320, this is the kit that has an R.A.A.F. decal option, for A58-602 {sadly the decal sheet does not have the 56" diameter upper wing roundels}, the main wing, engine and most of the engine mounting frame have been assembled, the cockpit detail so far is a collection of sub assemblies, the instrument panel is made up from 4 pieces and a photo etched centre plate, the instruments are 3 separate decals, applied to the back of the clear lens parts, the gunsight is the next addition to the instrument panel before it is glued to the bulkhead.

The armour plate sections that are behind the pilot seat are Photo Etch as supplied in the kit.
The cockpit sidewalls are test fitted only to each fuselage half.

The Box Art of my subject.

The work done so far

More progress on this subject:

Fuselage halves and cockpit assembly:

Fuselage assembly ready to fit the wings.
Note: Foil used to cover the hole on the inboard flaps.

2 views of the fuselage and wing assemblies, now glued together.
Note: Engine and frame work installation.

Now to clean up all the seams and joints, ready for the paint application.
Subject will be completed as A58-526 of 79 Sqn R.A.A.F. stationed at Moritai 1945.

Progressing a little closer to applying the camo scheme. Panel lines highlighted and the main wing leading edge and spinner have been painted in White.

Now the end is in sight, as this bird is now ready for the decal application and adding the small parts to finish the build.
