| Subject: RAAF Bristol Beaufighter Mk IVc Fri May 24 2013, 09:15 | |
| This Tamiya kit was the 3rd release {from the Beaufighter family}, as the Bristol Beaufighter TFX it was the original subject of choice, of the contract with the Royal Australian Air Force, Officer Training School, RAAF Base Williams at Point Cook, but when the model was completed, OTS instructed me that they intended to change to the DAP Mk XXI and to enter the model in Model Expo, [in 48 scale Prop Aircraft Modified class]. A19-187 {R-Roger} has a unique history with the RAAF 30 Sqn, during the 'Battle of the Bismarck Sea' in the dark days of 1942, the aircraft was eventually lost to Enemy Action on March 11th 1945.
The finished model replicates a war weary work horse, that operated in the extreme tropical conditions of the Southwest Pacific region. The model sits on the mirror as a means of showing the under surface detail without turning the model upside down.NOTE: This model subject has major modifications and additional resin replacements. In the Photo Gallery is a set of photo's of this model and the Expo 2005 Trophy.
