| Subject: Typhoon Mk Ib Car Door Fri May 31 2013, 02:09 | |
| This particular 48 scale Hasegawa kit is the first production of a Hawker Typhoon, as the Car Door style canopy, this kit can also include either the 250lb bombs, or the 8 x 60lb rockets, depending on the box art depends what is in the kit, this particular kit contained the 250 lb bombs and the decal option of TP - R of 198 Sqn RAF, this aircraft type flew with the 2nd Tactical Air Force, my subject replicates the fighter defense for the Mosquito Sqn's that attacked the Ameins Prison in Feb 1944, 198 Sqn Typhoons were later used in the ground attack roles, where their exploits are well documented after the Allied Landings in Normandy. The Black/White ID bands on the lower wing ARE NOT the AEAF bands applied on June 6th 1944, these bands were applied to all Typhoon Squadrons as an identification mark to alert British Ánti Aircraft gunners and airfield defenders of friendly aircraft, as a lot where short at by friendly fire from both ground and air. My subject is finished in the Model Master enamels of Ocean Grey / dark Green over Light Aircraft Grey and I have made the cockpit door in the open position.Frontal view of subject.Port side view of subject.
Starboard side view of subject, the canopy roof is not attached as yet.
